Track Your Money!

It's important to balance your checkbook each month so you know how much is in your account at any given time. This means you need to:

• Record all of your check and debit card purchases on a check book register or any computer software like Quicken or MS Money.
•  Watch your balance – use 24 Hour Banker Online or Xpress Banking to ensure your records match the bank records at any given time.
• Verify that every transaction on the bank statement is listed on your personal record. You can either check it off manually or utilize the download system of 24-Hour Banker to reconcile your account. Obviously recent transactions may not show up on your statement.
• Research discrepancies. Did you record the interest you earned? Any service charges? Did you forget to record something?
